Who We Are
|
'To the church of God which is at Corinth to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called saints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours'
1 Corinthians 1:2
|
As followers of Jesus we identify ourselves with the universal church – a church that is represented by many denominations, in many countries, both past and present. But we also have a clear sense of who we are as the church locally – here and now.
Our task is simple: to understand what God is doing at this time, in this place and work with Him. This means that while we are involved with what the church is doing globally, we primarily act locally; serving and blessing the communities where we live.
We say ‘communities’ intentionally. In a metropolis like Greater London there are many communities within each community. So we celebrate diversity in all its forms: ethnic diversity, cultural diversity and generational diversity.
If we have a bias, it is towards empowering and releasing a new generation; people with the potential of biblical characters like David, Daniel, Jeremiah, Esther and Ruth. From a young age they were each used to inspire and influence their own generation. By doing so, they shaped the destiny of their nation. Our desire is to see a new generation do the same.
